Abdu Kiar (Amharic: አብዱ ኪያር; born June 23, 1976) is a celebrated Ethiopian singer and rapper, known for his distinctive fusion of reggae, hip-hop, and traditional Ethiopian music. He first gained prominence in 2003 with his debut album, Merkato Sefere, which showcased his unique style and established him in the Ethiopian music scene.

Born in Addis Mercato, Addis Ababa, to Kiar Kahssay and Wuba Siraj, Abdu is the youngest of seven siblings. After high school, he joined the Express Music Band in 1997, performing a blend of dancehall, hip-hop, and reggae in local venues. In 1998, he moved to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, working as a salesman while continuing to pursue his musical passion.

Upon returning to Ethiopia, Abdu released Merkato Sefere and followed up with Fikir Bamaregna in 2006 and Minew Shewa in 2009. After a hiatus to focus on his education, he returned with his fourth album, Tikur Anbessa (Black Lion), in October 2015. This album, praised for its deep exploration of Ethiopian culture and contemporary issues, is considered one of his most significant works.

Abdu has also been active in social causes, including raising HIV awareness in Ethiopia. His global tours connect him with Ethiopian communities worldwide, allowing him to share his music and cultural heritage across different continents. Through his work, Abdu continues to make a meaningful impact both musically and socially.
